Hello, I hope this finds you very well, and happy new year to you all. We have not been blogging for a little while, but this is the first of a weekly (ish) Nizlopi blog. One week JP (Mr Double bass beat box himself), the next Me, Luke, (singer, guitarist, gobshite). In my last blog I explained that I am writing up the trip I made to Senegal last spring. wishing me well, am grand, getting on with things and fighting stuff.
Am in the studio in Brixton and have finished recording my parts and

As the title may well suggest this last week I have been struggling with my bass, will explain later but luckily for me am through the other side now.

Well, it's been a few weeks since my last confession so here goes: me and Luke have spent time writing and polishing new songs for the 2nd album, all sounding pretty damn good if you ask me.

Nizlopi have been rocking some great shows to some even greater audiences, god I love playing live. Thankyou to all that came and sang, danced, and generally gave us some love back. Sorry I've been out of the loop recently, there's been so much going on and having to be in so many places at once is tricky and a wee bit stressful. But it's time to slow down and reflect on things and take time to get back to fighting fitness, there's been just too many tired jp shows recently so I've been going to bed at 10. God, do you find yourself wondering why you're chasing your tail always? Well, well, well, well, its been a long time since i've written. Its strange, so much has changed but yet many things stay the same. One constant is me being tired. Nizlopi had a very busy weekend playing three shows in two days, all of which were wicked.

Sorry for the long absence. From mid-March to mid-May I was on a most incredible trip from Leamington Spa (home of FDM records) to Dakar in Senegal via public transport overland. Since returning weve been busy sorting out FDM and Nizlopi for the forthcoming months of festivals, getting our new album ready, and touring in the autumn. Hello from Morocco where I am having the trip of my life. These are sweet incredible people. Kind, gentle and loving. Im at the beginning of my 2nd of seven weeks travelling to and from Senegal over land by bus, and hitch, and train. I wanted to go on a real adventure. Hello!

We are on route to The Borderline for our first gig in a few months. We are seizing this opportunity to take a gig offered to us by Tom Robinson just before we go in to record our second album on Monday. We felt that the chance to play these new songs with Martin Barker - who will be playing percussion and drums on our album - was to good to miss. So first Nizlopi gig with three band members for about 5 years!

My god it's nearly Christmas, where does the time go? It's definitely

Hey, were actually getin some God Damn Weather here now. As in its cold, and Im glad of it. I dont like this crazy feeling of it being December and there having been no hard frosts yet, the climate has gone weird.

It's a funny day today. I lost my dad 14 years ago, the weather always feels the same, that bright sunshine but bitterly cold at the same time. My dad taught me my first guitar chord (E major) and then showed me how to tune by ear, for that I'll always be thankful.

Anyway, I've actually had some sleep and of course that makes me feel even more tired, I guess my body has worked overtime this last year so when it stops it goes into shut down.
